Vitamin D

The sunshine vitamin

Vitamin D is produced by our skin in reaction to UVB rays. This is why is it is called the sunshine vitamin. Unfortunately, from September to March, we do not get any UVB rays, so we have to find our vitamin D elsewhere.

Sources of vitamin D

Certain foods contain low levels of vitamin D such as milk, almonds, non-hydrogenated margarine and salmon.

Dangers of insufficient vitamin D

Vitamin D supports your immune system, lowers inflammation, helps maintain a healthier heart and bones as well as a clear mind. It is a way to prevent cognitive decline and mood disorders.
